Did You Feel Like You Lost Yourself When You Became A Mum?
Since becoming a Mum have you been suffering from a serious case of lost identity?
Or maybe it’s a midlife crisis? Or a little Postnatal depression?
Maybe you’re feeling tired, like, all the time! You look in the mirror and feel like you’ve let yourself go a little. That Mummy tummy just won’t go away. Everyday you feel like you can’t finish the laundry or squeeze your bottom into your jeans and you feel that all you are is ‘just a Mum’. You feel like you’re disappearing into nothing…
You used to care about how you looked. You ate well, exercised regularly, showered every day and put makeup on. You’d look at hashtags on Instagram like ‘outfits for Summer’ and pin cute outfits. Now, though, you wear hoodies and oversized sweaters and black and grey t-shirts. You grab your clothes off of the floor every morning and wear them again.
The thing is, you’re too tired to even care anymore. There are so many more important things to do than look cute.
Like sleep.
Or get jobs done.
Or go and watch your Son play ‘Do Ray Me’ on recorder on stage for 3 minutes and then have to hang around and watch 30 other kids squeak out their recorder recitals.
You love watching him of course, but then sometimes, you feel sad. You feel like you’ve lost yourself. Almost entirely.
You have no hobbies. In fact, you have no time to do anything. You just care for the kids and keep things ticking along.
You are nonstop busy and yet bored at the same time.
It’s a bizarre way to feel and you have no clue how to fix the funk you’re in.
This feeling diminishes who you really are, because of course, you are actually a walking bloody miracle…
Having created an amazing Human Being, you now are holding down multiple jobs - carer, teacher, accountant, nurse, cook, taxi driver and if you have any energy left at the end of the day, lover and best friend. So, you see, really, you’re not JUST A MUM!
Sarah, below, came to us for just this reason. She knew that there was more to her than being ‘just a mum’ and wanted to rediscover herself through the power of our Boudoir Experience.
