Embrace Your Power Through Your Outfit Choices

Although we totally embrace the traditional lingerie look, there is something so powerful about getting creative with your wardrobe and thinking outside of the box.

This can mean anything from adding accessories to a flattering bodysuit with a bold harness or piece of body jewelery, or mixing styles such as adding a leather jacket to beautiful lingerie or ripped tights, thigh length kinky boots and corsets… Really, the list of possibilities is endless. Whatever your unique style is then we can make it look super sexy for your Boudoir Photoshoot. Actually, some of our most successful Boudoir shoots have just used a bedsheet and a birthday suit!

Preparing your wardrobe choices is like a costume for an actor and it will help you get into character for the shoot.

Remember, in this case your character is YOU…. or anyone you want to be.

The powerful, confident, and sexy version of yourself that you want to portray in your boudoir pictures.

Some of our clients arrive with a very focussed idea of what look they want to show but others arrive as a blank page, ready to try anything new and maybe help them to ‘rediscover’ themselves. Often, it’s a truly collaborative effort and we work fully together to achieve a look you absolutely love. We always talk at length before your big day so let us know any ideas you have in mind and we’ll work to make your ideas happen.

If you can, try not to stay too far inside your comfort zone… Sometimes, by pushing yourself to do something that scares you, you’ll likely end up having one of your most memorable and meaningful experiences. The images you receive will be gorgeous and flattering, and you’ll be amazed by your own beauty and feel more confident in your own skin. (Again, think of the actor analogy. - Actors rarely win oscars by phoning in safe performances. Only when they challenge themselves do they win the greatest rewards.

The outfits that you choose will help you get in the mood for being photographed. Often actors say that they find it easier to get into character when in costume and we’ve found that if you want to get into character for your Boudoir Photoshoot then make sure your outfits look the part.

Remember, those clients with powerful wardrobe looks that you see all over our website, didn’t just find them in their wardrobe the morning of shoot day. (Preparation is key)

You’ll notice from Lisa’s outfit choices on this page that she put a lot of thought into choosing what to where for her session and that consideration has really paid off with a fabulous variety of images.

When choosing your outfits for your Boudoir Session, consider a little more about your comfort level. A Madison Bou Photoshoot has generally 4 comfort levels aand we almost always start with some ‘modest’ looks to get used to being photographed in front of the camera.

  1. Modest - Largely dresses, sports wear, shirts, jumpers

  2. Lingerie - This is Boudoir at it’s most ttraditional

  3. Edgy / Daring - This could be anything from Bed sheets, Milk Baths, ‘Shades of Grey’ to ‘birthday suit’.
