Why You Should Always Have Professional Hair and Makeup For Your Boudoir Photoshoot
WHY DO WE ALWAYS PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL HAIR AND MAKEUP FOR YOUR PHOTOSHOOT SESSION?
All of our photoshoot experiences include professional hair and makeup and there’s a good reason for this…
We want you to look your best for your pictures and you’ll never look better than when you’ve had professional hair and make-up. It’s a great way to start the shoot experience in a relaxed way as well which will also lead to a better end result.
The end result is all about expressing your beauty in the best way possible. It’s not about turning you into a ‘supermode’l, it’s about showing you the most beautiful you, that YOU have ever seen. All packaged in products that help you to feel amazing for years to come, every-time you look at them.
The feeling of confidence will totally show in your pictures. If you feel good, pictures of you will reflect that inner power you’ll feel.
Flawless hair and make-up also cuts down the editing time after your photoshoot, again making your pictures all the better.
We certainly recommend our hair and makeup professionals rather than doing things yourself, because our girls know exactly the kind of tools, colours and products to use to get your look, ‘camera ready’. (Camera ready is very different to ‘going out on the town’ ready)
Professional hair and make-up is even more important when it comes to our glam and boudoir sessions.
HERE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS WE LOOK FOR WHEN APPLYING PROFESSIONAL HAIR AND MAKEUP
Oily skin can be an issue on a photoshoot which involves lighting as this increases ‘shine’. (imagine it like a reflection of the light in your skin) This is why we take the trouble to carefully create a ‘matt’ look for your skin. (Going out, you may love a shimmer, but for photoshoots we don’t ‘shimmer shimmer’ )
Brows can be tweezed at home before your photoshoot but we can also add depth to a brow that may be on the thinner side.
We advise arriving to your photoshoot with totally make-up free, clean skin. (This is difficult for some so we can do that in the studio if need be) Exfoliating should be done the day before. (Great preparation the day before is to have a longer, relaxing bath, drink plenty of water and get a good nights sleep. Really, that is the best advice we give because it’s so effective.)
Moisturisers should be applied to your clean face since they help to keep make-up in place.
We use concealers for touch ups especially with skin imperfections but also we have learned some wonderful skills in photoshop over a twenty year period which can do a lot of clean up work and still leave you looking natural and fabulous. Sometimes our clients want scars or tattoos removed and these are easier to remove in photoshop that trying to cover up with make-up. We’ll advise you with all this and your make-up artist will be very experienced in make-up for photography.
Eyes are one of the most important facial features and we always use false eyelashes (almost always) to add extra glam. For some people, this takes a little getting used to but the results are always worth it.
HOW MUCH TIME DO WE SPEND ON THE MAKEOVER?
One additional note of the subject of make-up is that we never hurry this part of the process. Although many photographic studios on the High Street will provide hair and make-up, because of the sheer number of shoots they do a day, it tends to be applied rather quickly. We don’t rush this part of the experience. Firstly, it allows you to become completely relaxed during an unhurried make-up session and secondly we can ensure you’re absolutely delighted with the result. We say that you should allow a good hour and a half for your hair and make-up, especially for a boudoir or glam shoot.
After a Boudoir session with Madison Bou, you will be able to get pictures that will last for a lifetime.
All of our products are printed with archival quality inks and papers, so your albums and prints will last and not fade as they would if you were to print images from the High Street or most online printing companies.
