OUTDOOR BOUDOIR

“Thank you for the amazing experience I had on my photo shoot. From start to finish the whole day was full of fun and laughter and even before I had even had my make up done they made me feel at ease. They both made me feel confident enough to do the shots I wanted to and even looking back at the photos from the start of the day to the end Dave had already taught me so much on how to get the best shots for me and have lots of variety in my poses. He gave plenty of advise and direction which was the main thing I worried about as I'm not a natural selfie taker or poser by any means! I can't recommend it enough. I really think that everyone should do one in their lifetime and be made to feel special for the day.” Natasha (Pictured)

Boudoir Doesn’t Have To Be Confined To The Bedroom

One of the most difficult parts about your Boudoir Photoshoot is the first half hour of being photographed. This is often when you’re at your most nervous and worry about posing, what to do with your hands, where you’re supposed to look, facial expressions, whether anything is hanging out and a million other crazy things are going through your mind.

We get it. It takes time to settle the nerves. Being half naked is scary!

The good news, in terms of all those crazy things going round your head, we take care of all that stuff. We pose you from the tips of your fingers to your tippy, tippy toes. We direct you every step of the way and make sure nothing is hanging out or labels aren’t showing, we relax your face to make you look calm and natural on camera, even though you may be shaking inside. We handle all that stuff since this is what we do and have been doing it for 20 years. You’re in good hands.

We also know how out of your comfort zone walking around in your undies makes you feel. It’s not easy, but neither is anything that gives the most benefit in life, ever easy. Do you think, jumping out of an airplane is easy? Yet after taking the leap and the chute opens up, the incredible rush you feel as you float safely to the ground makes it worth all the stress of doing it in the first place. A Boudoir Photoshoot is a little like jumping out of a plane, without the obvious real danger attached. No one to our knowledge has ever died from a Boudoir photoshoot. (Actually, someone did die from a Bridal Photoshoot in America once, but that’s a story we can bore you with another day )

One technique we’ve learned to reduce the nerves at the start of your shoot is to do a section with more clothes so you have time to get used to the sensation of being photographed. Many studios are on such a tight schedule with multiple clients each day that they have little time for this important first half hour. The first half hour is when your facial expression is more like to look a little ‘Deer in the Headlights’ - eyes wide open and staring blankly. We call it the ‘camera face’ and we all have it. It’s the face we pull when someone points a camera at us. Our smile is un-natural , or we pout like a trout and we strike a selfie pose and though we may think it looks ok on insta it really doesn’t. Trust us. An 18 year old girl may get away with it but the vast majority look a little silly. We want you to look beautifully and naturally like you on your best day.

Look at all the women on our website and see how many are striking selfie poses or trout pouts.

To look as good as a model on your Boudoir Photoshoot takes a little training first and that’s what we do in the first half hour. We concentrate on getting you to look relaxed and natural in front of the camera and part of that process is to take away the really scary bit of being half naked by covering you up. This can be jeans and T-Shirts, a fabulous dress you love or pretty much anything that makes you feel good and then we go outside the bedroom somewhere. If the weather’s good, it’s the perfect opportunity to kick around in the leaves or climb a tree or sit and have a coffee. These pictures below of Natasha were taken in the amazing Bluebell Wood at Hazlewood Castle and we also included some time to do some shots in the last of the Spring Blossom.

After half an hour of fun with clothes on, you’ll be so much more relaxed in front of the camera that the thought of wearing lingerie or less won’t be anywhere near as scary.

After photographing Natasha in the Bluebelles we worked up the confidence to shoot this sequence in the Speing Blossoms
