Boudoir Tips - Flow Posing
Boudoir Tips • Flow Posing
One of the things clients are most worried about when they arrive at a Madison Bou session is posing. You should know that we will pose you down to your very fingertips.
Seriously, you’ll never need to worry how to pose. We know the angles, what to do with your hands and how to stand to look amazing.
We will work your chin, shoulders and your hands and we will work your curves and give you a killer figure. Then, we will work your connection with the camera. That’s super important.
The subtleties of posing will make or break your pictures and understanding this takes years of practice.
We will offer this piece of advice though…
Whilst it not important to know how to pose because we’ll help with that, it’s often extremely helpful to practice feeling sensual before you arrive. By this, we mean, try on your boudoir outfits and lie on the bed and practice positions which you see on our website or on Pinterest which you love.
Work on the facial expression and try to feel good while doing it.
So many women arrive at our studio and say they never feel sexy.
Maybe having kids has made them lose their mojo.
Maybe a difficult break up or maybe it’s a diet thing but, whatever the reason, we aim to bring back your mojo.
Our aim is to show you just how sexy you really are. We’ll do that whether you practice beforehand or not but trying to ‘get into the sexy zone’ before you arrive often helps speed up the process.
What’s key, is getting comfortable with the feeling of moving and posing in a sensual way.
Think about the position of your legs, feet, hands and fingers. Elongate them as much as possible – point your toes and extend your fingers and wrists. We often say that we want to bend every joint in your body. ‘ballet hands’ with every joint bent and not straight, wooden, ‘puppet hands’. Look at how the women in your inspired poses are using their arms and hands. Are the arms bent at the elbow and not rigidly resting on the body? Are they touching their body? Many times a sensual touch lends itself really well to creating a sensual photo – try running a hand down your neck and feeling the soft hairs on your skin or imagining touching your skin on the beach in sunshine while on holiday. (Actually, pretending you’re on holiday like that will often make you smile in a natural way and that looks great in pictures)
Practice standing with some of your body weight shifted to one hip, which means the knee of one leg is likely straight and the other knee is likely bent. We say, ‘pop a hip’ – It creates a wonderful, curvy s-shape and stops you looking flat footed like a soldier on parade.
Try sitting, but sit with your bottom near the edge of the chair. Lean forward and use your knees as a table for your elbows but also lift your heel so that you elongate your feet a little. Your calf muscles will hate you but you’ll love the shape of your legs.
There are some classic poses that most clients want to try and we have created a “top ten most popular poses” guide and you can find that HERE
Hopefully this post has been useful but the big take away is not to sweat about posing before you arrive. We’ll pose you perfectly. Certainly get some posing ideas together on a pinterest board though and send them to us for inspiration. It’ll help prepare us beforehand so we’re all on the same page with what you want and love.
