How To Look Comfortable In Your Boudoir Photos

To those who are hesitating in booking a Boudoir Photoshoot and saying “What if I don’t look good in my Pictures? I’m not a model”

Well, we say, have a look at any of the literally 100s of women featured on our website.

Then ask yourself this important question :

“What if I DO look good in my pictures”?

So many opportunities that present themselves during the course of our lives are missed because of fear.

We are afraid we won’t be good enough.

We’re afraid that we’ll come up short somehow.

It’s the reason why we eat Fish and Chips on a Friday, watch Eastenders and book the same hotel for our holiday every year… We want to stay inside our comfort zone.

Our comfort zone is our safe place.

More often than not though, it’s when we step outside our comfort zone that we enjoy our best experiences.

Discover a new restaurant when our old favourite has closed for the day.

Drive a different route to work and see what you notice

Force yourself to go out to more social groups and meet more people

Change up your hairstyle with a different stylist

Try a different look and see what friends say

Pluck up the courage to ask the boss for a pay rise

Consider changing jobs to get more satisfaction out of what you do

It’s when we challenge ourselves that great things happen.

So, with regards to a Boudoir Photoshoot - Yes, it can be scary.

In fact, the very thought of being photographed at all, let alone with fewer clothes on than you’d wear to Church, may well make you feel genuinely sick with anxiety, but imagine - If you see your finished pictures and then love them and see just how beautiful you are - Wouldn’t that make it worth the effort?

Of course, we know how scary it is for you. This is not our first rodeo. We’ve met 100s of women who feel the same way you do. We’ve become well versed in the art of making people feel comfortable in front of the camera.

It’s a skill that’s been hard earned over many years.

We started making Brides look good on their Wedding Day and then making Couples look like they love each other, rather than just standing next to each other grinning at the camera. (The old style traditional Wedding Photography way)

We then started photographing Brides in more normal settings without specific bridal wear and then we started to learn the art of Boudoir. Each style of photography is subtley different, yet they’re about making you look relaxed and not tense in front of the camera.

We have 2 decades of experience in the art of making you look comfortable in front of the camera and this is why your pictures taken by our camera will look so much better than the pictures you’ve had taken before.

We will guide you through each pose, every step of the way.

We’ve learned some rules as well, which make the art of looking comfortable so much easier…

Ballet Hands and Toes.

You’ve seen how elegant a Ballet Dancer’s hands look as she gracefully holds a pose. Every finger is gently curved, nothing is stiff and straight.

And you’ll know how beautiful a Ballerina can look when she’s ‘en pointe’ - We’ll help you to point your toes as well and never be so flat footed. This will elongate your legs and make your body look slimmer.

We will instruct you on fingers and toes a lot. (Jayne’s formal training in Ballet and 2 years at Moulin Rouge means she’s pretty well versed in the art of elegant posing. You’re in great hands )

Strength of Posture.

This doesn’t mean bunching up your shoulders around your neck, the opposite in fact. Drop your shoulders, relax your shoulders - This will create more space around your neck and make you look taller and leaner and by pushing your chin out a little, this will give you a gorgeous jawline. Every part of you will look so much better by just a simple relaxation of your shoulders and extension of your chin.

Want to see the difference now?

Go to a mirror and put your chin down. Then count your chins. (I have about 4 when I do this)

Now push you chin out an inch. (Don’t overstretch it. Imagine a chicken walking and clucking. That’s what you do with your neck! I often call it ‘chicken necking’ ) Do that and hey, presto… One chin with a fabulously well defined jawline. No Photoshop just a well tried and tested model trick.

Chest Out!

I’m sure you can imagine how good this will make you look.

This is the opposite of slouching. It will make you look strong and powerful. Pull your shoulders back and shoulder blades together and look how confident you will become.

Bum Out!

“Hang on…I’m not a contortionist!”

OK, the whole point of all this ‘chicken necking’, pushing your chest out and your bum out stuff is to emphasise your curves.

Boudoir is all about curves.

It’s the curve of the back, the accentuated butt, the boob lift which comes with pushing your chest out - It’s all these things combined which create amazingly dramatic Boudoir Pictures you’ll adore forever.
