Sensual Boudoir Photography Poses in Yorkshire

Posing is an area that most clients worry about the most when they decide to take the plunge and go for it! They tell us they don’t know how to pose and feel awkward in front of the camera. Well, that’s where we come in like a caped crusader to save the day.Over 20 years experience photographing women of all shapes and sizes and age groups has taught us a thing or two about posing. What looks awkward, what looks natural and what looks dramatic. Jayne, who’s the beauty and brains behind this operation we call Madison Bou is a dancer by profession and has spent years dancing on stage around the world as well as teaching dance and choreography. This has set her up to be an expert in poses of all kinds. Trust us when we say you are in safe hands when you book a Boudoir Experience with us.

Some poses you’ll discover are as natural as breathing and some make you question if the human body should bend that way. We understand that some are more flexible than others and we’ll make sure that you look amazing in every pose we direct and not overstretched or uncomfortable in any way.

Some of these poses you see below can be simply breath-taking and some will raise eybrows. The 10 poses below have all been chosen because they will look jaw-dropping when executed correctly and we’ll help you every step of the way. These are not the average pose you’ll see on the average ‘selfie’, these are the kinds of poses which can look awkward and unflattering in the wrong hands. When executed with panache, however, they take on a new level which will make your Boudoir Session stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Are you ready to get posing?

Green background over the shoulder Sensual Boudoir Photography in Yorkshire

The ‘Over The Shoulder’ is more than just a stance, it's an attitude, a statement. It's a bold proclamation that you're not just in the room, you own it!

With the right amount of confidence, a sprinkle of mystique, and that 'I woke up like this' kind of vibe, you're all set to transform this pose from ordinary to extraordinary. Like having a luxurious ‘air’ shower in your mind.

Finding the perfect hand position is crucial when exploring sexy picture ideas. One of the biggest problems with posing is finding something to do with their hands. Poorly posed hands and fingers can result in the client looking tense or awkward so we ensure every hand looks gentle and relaxed like a ballerina’s hands. Nothing is straight, every joint is bent.

sexy profile - posing advice Sensual Boudoir Photography in Yorkshire

Standing poses are often the most difficult to carry out with anyone who’s not used to being photographed. The default standing position is flat footed with straight arms by the side and trust us when we say that is not a flattering look, for anybody. ‘The Sexy Profile’ - Is an exception - This is one of the easiest poses to master yet still needs some real attitude to pull off properly. We often do this with a window or large mirror. This is all about capturing your sexy curves in a way that’s always a winner. This has it all: the curves of the model’s booty and chest, a sexy hint of the shoulder, and a smouldering look.

See the subtle arch of the back, the curvature of the arms and the silhouette of the profile all combining to paint a picture of sensuality and mystery, and total elegance. You're not just standing at a window, you're commanding a stage, creating an image that's both seductive and powerful. The camera angle is below the eyeline to make you look taller and more powerful no matter what you’re wearing.

Intimate Boudoir Sessions in Leeds at Hazlewood Castle Woods

‘The Booty Pop’ - Now you’re graduating to the top of the class with this one. This pose is all about celebrating curves and sass. Despite appearances, it's not about turning a boudoir session into a gym workout. It's about capturing the perfect curve, the sensual arch, and the play of shadow and light that makes this pose a true head-turner. Try this but try and really go with it. The more attitude, the more arch, the more effort, the more jaw-dropping this pose will look in your Boudoir aLBUM.

Ah, the ‘Reclining Arch’ - The challenge here lies not in the pose itself, but in the attitude. It's about reclining with intent, with purpose. Suck that belly in, arch that back, pop the booty. lift those arms, stretch the neck…. Oh and do it all at the same time. It’s a workout, for sure, but oh, so worth it!.

Do this, become a Boudoir Superstar and feel your confidence rise.

Embrace this pose, own it like it’s your birthright. This could become the masterpiece of your boudoir collection - the show-stopper that leaves viewers in awe.

“The Tumble” is like a reverse, upside down ‘Arch’ - Admittedly, not for everyone, this is another one of those poses that needs a little bit of attitude to carry off. Try it and with our help, turn it into a masterpiece.

‘The Arch’ - is another audacious Boudoir staple pose that needs some work to really look convincing and we work hard on getting all the details right. Triangles are a powerful compositional technique used by artists for centuries. We look to create these triangles at every opportunity and you’ll see them everywhere on this picture of Francesca. Crucially, her back is never flat on the floor, it’s the curve of her back that creates the drama of the pose. It’s a stretch and it’s a pose that can only be held for a few seconds so timing is everything.

You don’t always need your boudoir poses to be exaggerated or powerful to be effective – simple poses can work as well such as this pose - ‘The kneel’

We often start with this and ask our client to kneel on a bed and look slightly away from the camera. This pose can help ease her gently into the session. Regardless how easy it is, it still looks powerful, especially when photographed below the eyeline to make her look taller. We pay particular attention to subtle details like how they’re holding their fingers. This will make a big difference to the final shot as the hands convey whether the client is tense or relaxed.

‘The Relaxed Diva’

A slight tilt of the shoulder, a subtle arch of the back, an elusive look, and you've got a shot that speaks volumes. A ‘Through the keyhole’ voyeuristic gem of a pose that shows you, not sleeping but rather, day-dreaming or yearning for a wonderful night to come. Super sexy in a super classy way. A Boudoir classic.

Yorkshire's Empowering Boudoir Photography - woman in window with white lingerie

‘The Leg Cross’ is a slightly advanced pose, but one that looks incredible when done right.

It’s also one of the best boudoir poses for cleverly keeping the modesty of our client intact – even without any clothing or props.

Here you see the triangle created by the bent knee and the folded leg underneath together with the forward lean of her body makes everything look longer and more graceful. Fingers and toes should be softly pointed.

A key to this pose is to make sure our client is feeling relaxed and confident: We want it to create soft, almost balletic shapes in the body. Nothing is squished or too compressed, everything is relaxed and elegant..

Hopefully these posing ideas have given you some inspiration.

It’s so important to feel relaxed on your photoshoot and we spend a lot of our time creating that safe, relaxed space for you to really pose with enthusiasm. We start of with the easier poses first, like kneeling on a bed – and go from there. We slowly move on to the complex, highly detailed poses a little later when our client is fully warmed up.

Above all, posing for a Boudoir Photoshoot is wickedly good fun and will leave you with a broad grin on your face and feeling excited to come back for more.
