While so many high street makeover studios are attracting ‘pretty young things’ to their photoshoots we specifically cater for a largely grown up clientele.

Our clients have life stories to tell and often have been through the ups and downs of families and lifestyles. Most of our clients are 35 plus and the majority are 40 somethings and recently we’ve been attracting clients in their 50s and 60s.

What do you think of when you hear the words boudoir photography? Maybe you think of sexy women in lingerie, strutting their stuff for the camera. Or maybe you think of models with the “perfect” figure, makeup, and hair. Maybe you think I could never do that or I wish that were me.

But boudoir photography is so much more than sensual, intimate photos. It’s about you—learning to love yourself and your body, feeling empowered in your beauty and femininity. That’s all very well, but how do you show confidence when you turn up feeling as nervous as can be. After all, it’s not everyday you take your clothes off for the camera.

A recent conversation with a fifty year old client struck a chord with us. She had just jumped out of a plane and achieved her lifelong ambition of parachute jumping. I first came across Malmaison Hotel when I arrived in Leeds from London, 20 years ago.

Glamour or Boudoir Photography near York – Which is your style?

People ask this all the time and here we’ll show you the difference so you can make an informed choice as to which type of photoshoot style you want to take part in.

Often, the line between these two genres can appear blurry but really it comes down to a sense of your own comfort limits.

Remember the old term of ‘Glamour Photography’ ? Page 3 of the Sun kind of style?

Well, let me tell you right now, Modern Glamour is most certainly not that!

Glamour is essentially a photoshoot with lots of facial portraits with fabulous hair and make-up. Often glamour is about stunning dresses and beautiful surroundings as well. Actually to remove the genre from the old-style image of ‘glamour’ we sometimes shorten the word to ‘Glam’ as in ‘Get your glam on’ or use the term ‘Beauty Photography’

One of the best ways to appreciate all the images from your session is when you look through a beautiful boudoir book , laid out with your favourite images. We carefully storyboard the book with themed open spreads. Every image is designed to compliment the next.
