Every day of our lives we are bombarded with pictures of perfect people, living perfect lives and everything exists through a filter of photoshop or instagram or whatever. It’s all too easy to forget that these people don’t just party all night and then wake up with perfect hair and flawless skin. No, we’re not all as perfect as the fictitious people we see on social media everyday.

Plus size… You hear this term everywhere.  “Plus size” is a phrase full of negative connotations for many people. It says “too much” and it also says “you can’t shop in the same shops as your friends” That said, we meet plenty of women who have taken the phrase and owned it. Women with a truly positive body image and who are proud of the person they are. Really inspirational. if only more ‘thin’ women could feel as positive. Search for ‘plus size’ on the internet and see how many boudoir photography sites come up. Dozens! Hate it or love it, this term seems to be a popular one. Do you prefer the term ‘plus size’ or curvy boudoir?

So many women we meet have become strangers to their bodies, particularly after ageing and having babies. We believe it’s healthy to learn to appreciate the body you have and not be to judgemental. Loving yourself isn’t about vanity, it’s about sanity and a boudoir experience is all about learning to love and appreciate what you have. We are all ‘perfectly imperfect’ and accepting that is a hugely healthy thing.

One of the big questions you’ll need to ask yourself early on is how you want your pictures to look.

Some of our clients want to feel the excitement and ‘rush’ of baring all in front of the camera. Totally naked, indoors, or even bolder, outdoors in nature. ( Some studios call this ‘Fine Art’ style )

Other clients don’t want to go that far and prefer the idea of wearing lingerie and being photographed in a more sensual way. (This is more traditional ‘Boudoir’ style )

A third group of clients prefer the idea of being photographed with clothes for a more Fashion look ( We call this ‘Glamour or Beauty’ style )

The decision you make is entirely up to you and your personal comfort level. Many women think they’s like to go bolder but during the shoot play a little safer and other go the other way. Start with stretchy jumpers and white shirts and then graduate to white sheets and soon muster up the courage to walk around totally naked without a care in the world! (If we happen to be photographing in a luxury Hotel we often find ourselves pleeding with clients to cover up so that the hotel guests aren’t offended. Honestly, that’s more common than you can imagine.

The truth is though, we actively encourage you to arrive with an open mind.

It’s was a great day. Hair and make up well done and nicely relaxing. Shoot felt real. Hard work at times but that produced beautiful shots that weren’t over edited. I went max on outfits 😂which resulted in amazing photos I struggled to choose between … Amanda

I expected myself to be reserved and shy, but found myself not caring about anything and anybody around me as I threw layers of clothing off without embarrassment. So many women we meet have a real problem putting their needs first.

It’s just not in their nature.

So often, the children come first or the hubby comes first, before they ever consider their own needs.

Over the years, all this nurturing can take a toll to the point where there’s nothing left to give. We see this all the time.
