A GOTHIC STYLED SHOOT AT MIDLAND HOTEL, BRADFORD

In any form of artistic expression, change is not just constant; it's a driving force.

As photographers, we often find ourselves immersed in capturing moments, chasing deadlines, and striving to deliver the best possible shots for our clients and while this is undeniably essential, it's equally crucial to embark on creative journeys that push the boundaries of our artistry.

This Gothic styled shoot at the iconic Midland Hotel in Bradford was a testament to the importance of setting up these unique and imaginative projects.

We like to think of our styled shoots as a Canvas for Creative Freedom.

Every photographer, regardless of their niche, benefits from infusing creativity into their work. Styled shoots like the one at Midland Hotel provide an ideal platform to explore uncharted territories. They offer a chance to break free from routine assignments and let your imagination run wild. Oooh, how excited do we sound about this, right now? This childlike enthusiasm for our art is what we then try and bring back to our normal Madison Bou boudoir style photoshoots. It’s the reason why we started branching out from our studio in central Leeds and moved to the 77 acres of stunning Hazlewood castle and it’s the reason we now used multiple locations throughout Yorkshire. Every shoot we do is different and we love it this way. It’s not just a ‘formula’ for us, it’s as unique as the woman being photographed.

Growth Through Exploration

Photography, like any art form, is a journey of growth and self-discovery. Creative photoshoots allow you to experiment with new techniques, styles, and concepts. They challenge you to adapt, learn, and evolve as an artist.

For this shoot featuring the amazing Collette Von Tora and fabulous hair by Andreas Constantinou, we chose the iconic Midland Hotel as our backdrop. Its historic architecture, ornate details, and timeless elegance provided the perfect canvas for our creative vision.

The dress Collette was wearing needed this dramatic setting to really show it off. In faact, we decided to hop in a car and shot some extra pictures in the private cragg Wood in Leeds for a completely different mood. The mirror was even heavier than it looks and, remarkably remained intact. (until another adventure on the beach…. another story)

Collette von Tora, by the way, is no stranger to dressing up ….. She was a stand in for Karen Gillen in Guardians of the Galaxy. (uncredited)

Exploring unconventional themes and settings inspires not just us but also our clients who often come up with great suggestions for their shoots. It encourages us to think beyond the ordinary and create art that resonates on a deeper level.

We do creative shoots to remind us why we fell in love with photography in the first place. It’s a way of rekindling our passion, and a reminder that photography is not just a profession; it's an artistic expression.

Creative photoshoots, like this Gothic styled one at Midland Hotel, Bradford, are essential for photographers looking to evolve and thrive in the ever-evolving world of visual storytelling. They serve as a testament to the boundless possibilities of photography and the importance of nurturing one's creative spirit. Like a recharge for the soul!
