Before Your Yorkshire Boudoir Photoshoot

I stumbled across Madison Bou when I was searching for a local photographer to take promotional shots for my business. I wanted to find someone who could really capture the essence of an empowered woman on camera. Looking through the website I saw image after image of beautiful, confident, sensual, feminine women. Yet each one was unique and different, in a way that was clearly personal to them. I knew I had found my photographer and messaged straight away! Dave and Jayne were such a great team to work with and they went above and beyond to achieve the shots and look I wanted. Jayne’s hair and make up made me look and feel so beautiful. I was astounded by the results, it was exactly what I hoped for and more.

The Days Leading Up To Your Boudoir Photoshoot

The days leading up to your Yorkshire boudoir photoshoot can be filled with anxiety. This is completely normal.

For most of our clients, this is the first time they’ve ever done anything like this before and the vast majority of women who come to us have real anxiety about the way they look. In fact, one of the main reasons clients book a photoshoot with us is because they’ve read so much about the effort we take to make women feel as comfortable as possible for their photoshoot experience.

We understand the anxieties of everyday women… about ‘Mummy Tummy’, about the ageing process, about losing a sense of identity and independence after having kids and about the trauma of illness such as cancer.

Everyone comes to us with a story and every story is different and we work with every woman to rebuild any confidence she may have lost along the way.

People read our blog and facebook and get the sense that we treat everyone in a unique way and never act like the shoot is a ‘conveyor belt’ experience and that’s why they book us in the first place. This helps to overcome the initial nerves before the shoot day because they feel we’re coming from this place of safety. We fully understand how difficult the thought of appearing without many clothes and posing in front of strangers with a camera must be and we work hard to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

So, please, don’t worry about being nervous, it’s perfectly normal.

In fact, a little anxiety can be a good thing. Stepping out of your comfort zone, like facing your fears in anything, comes with an exhilarating rush that can be so rewarding in the long term. Face your fears during this photoshoot and watch how your confidence will grow afterwards. Truthfully, this experience is one of the best ways to build your confidence especially if it’s been knocked in recent years.

When you arrive at our studio, we spend time over a tea or coffee and chat about the clothes you’ve brought along and discuss how we’ll photograph you and find out a little more about you. Then during an hour to an hour and a half of hair and makeup with your favourite music playing on the Bose system, you’ll become more and more relaxed to the point that when you step in front of the camera for the first time, you’ll be surprised how relaxed you’ll feel. We always continue with the upbeat banter. It’s important that this experience should feel fun throughout. We will be directing every moment of the shoot itself so the last thing you’ll need to do is worry about posing or how you look. We watch for the details, like hair out of place, knicker labels, seams of the stockings not being straight and we adjust when needed so you don’t need to worry about any of these details. We ensure, you will always look good.

After her photoshoot, Jennifer (Pictured) told us ““I was feeling lost in myself amongst the many roles I play out in life, mum, step mum, wife, daughter, sister… I needed something to kick start my self confidence, to find ‘me’ again, to remind me who I can be. I also wanted something to help create a positive body image in my own mind, something I’ve struggled with my whole life. Prove I can be a ‘lady’ and look a little glamorous.” … Jennifer

For any woman thinking of doing this, Jennifer has this to say

“As part of my feminine energy work, I encourage women to tap into both their light and dark feminine energy. I would highly recommend a boudoir shoot to any lady who wanted to uncover their dark feminine power. It really helps unlock that sensual confidence but while being in a safe and liberating environment. I have always appreciated the work of the photographer Helmut Newton and when I discovered Dave also loved his work, it was no wonder I was so drawn to Madison Bou! At first glance Newtons’ images seem to be subject to the male gaze but on closer inspection there is such an amazing amount of feminine power within them, Newton really captures the allure of the femme fatale (who is the archetype of the dark feminine). I could not have been more thrilled with my Helmut Newton inspired boudoir shoot.”

A few months later, Jennifer returned for another Photoshoot - This time getting back to nature with this woodland inspired boudoir shoot and you can see that here : WOODLAND INSPIRED BOUDOIR PHOTOSHOOT
